Churches re-opened from the 15th June – for private prayer and reflection only

You will have seen information, in the press and elsewhere, that churches are now allowed to open for private prayer and reflection. This is wonderful news, and our churches (with the exception of Axford) are open (see below for days and times) – but please do note that this is for private prayer only – we’re not yet in a position to hold services or facilitate groups. We have made the buildings as safe as we possibly can – but please help us to keep things that way, both for you and for everyone else, remembering that many of those caring for our churches are themselves vulnerable! So, please:
• Observe social distancing;
• Use the hand sanitiser provided on entry and on exit;
• Touch as few surfaces as possible.
In some of the churches you’ll be asked to leave a “this seat has been used” label on the seat you’ve used, so that we can try to keep everyone separate.
Church opening times will be as follows:
• St Michael’s, Aldbourne Daily, ~9am – 5pm, except when the church is being cleaned.
• St Nicholas Baydon Daily, ~8.30am – 4.30pm.
• St Mary’s Chilton Foliat Wednesdays and Sundays, 11am – 3pm
• All Saints Froxfield Daily, ~ 10.30am – 2.30pm
• Holy Cross Ramsbury Daily, 2 – 3 pm.

We’re all also looking forward to the resumption of public worship, which will happen as soon as we can do this safely – hopefully, within a couple of weeks – (see the weekly News Sheets for progress reports); please do join the “phone-in” or recorded services in the meanwhile. We’re always here to support you; please contact one of the clergy or churchwardens (see the lists in church porches) if we can help in any way.

Going forward, we’re consulting on how we retrieve the good things that have been lost during lock-down, while still retaining the new skills and ways of communicating that we’ve learned over the past three months. The “Zoom” Parish Meeting on the 27 June has given useful food for thought – watch this space! If you wish to contribute to the discussion, email pcc@whittonteam.org.uk with your suggestions, or talk to a member of the clergy or your Local Church Council.

Wednesday Drop-Ins (telephone)

A phone-in opportunity to stay in touch – Wednesdays, 10.00 – 10.45am. It’s so important to keep in touch, for worship and for fellowship. So while we are socially distancing, Wednesday Drop-In is a weekly opportunity to phone in and chat with other members of the church family. One of the ministry team will host 45 minutes of informal conversation, opening and closing with a prayer. You are welcome to stay for as long or short a time as you wish. To join in, please email pcc@whittonteam.org.uk or contact Rhona Floate or Sue Rodd for access information.
