Parish Away Weekend 2021

Previous parish times away have been wonderful opportunities to relax, get to know each other better and have space to think more deeply about our churches and our faith.

At long last we were able to have a weekend away together and a group from across the Whitton parish enjoyed a very comfortable weekend at Ammerdown in Somerset.

The theme and main focus of lively debate and discussion was ‘Reconnecting with God, each other and the wider world.’ It sounds very serious and in many ways it was as the topic is relevant to all of us. It also allowed an opportunity to hear each other’s views and ideas.
More details of this will be posted soon so watch this space.

We also had a lot of fun and laughter, gladly celebrating a special birthday, not to mention sharing very yummy cake.

Saturday afternoon saw some visiting Farleigh Hungerford Castle, strolling around local footpaths or taking time for well-earned peaceful relaxation.
Saturday evening was shocking!

An invitation to show their talent meant nearly everyone contributed to an evening of good music, poems, jokes and funny stories ably encouraged and heckled (as appropriate) by an enthusiastic audience.

It was a genuine joy to worship together throughout the weekend. On Sunday we moved to the beautiful chapel and shared our celebration through Zoom with others in the Whitton Parish ably demonstrating our re-membering or re- connecting with God and each other.
