Refreshed Pattern of Worship from January 2025

Pattern of Worship for July 2025 (NEW!)

PLEASE come and help “Share the Story”!!

What?  Sharing Bible stories with children in an accessible way, so that they come to know the most important ones, how they fit together, and what they might mean for us today.

Why?    So children should know more about the Christian stories on which so many of our shared values are built. The kids enjoy hearing them brought to life, and the adults have a great time too.

How?    Short, purpose-written dramas, lasting ten to fifteen minutes each.  We have a stash of costumes and props.

Where? In the four primary schools in the parish.  The most urgent need (seriously urgent!) is in Chilton Foliat & Ramsbury.

When? Wednesdays or Thursdays in term time.

Who?    Two teams (ideally at least 6 people each), on alternate weeks in each school.

Yes, but who?

  • anyone who enjoys and values children;
  • anyone who enjoys acting or is happy to give it a go (no great skills or experience needed!);
  • anyone who would like to make a real contribution to our schools;
  • parents, grandparents, anyone – you?

We started in 2013, in Aldbourne and Baydon, then Chilton and Ramsbury, within the Bible Society’s nation-wide “Open the Book” network.  A year ago, we got more adventurous!  Re-badging ourselves as “Share the Story”, we now use short, child-friendly, dramatic scripts – written in-house – that provide greater scope for character and action.  Tailored to fit the church & school year, the stories cover the foundational events in the Bible (Genesis to Revelation) over a three-year cycle.

Each team works fortnightly, alternating – two in Aldbourne & Baydon on Thursdays, and two each (with considerable overlap) in Ramsbury and Chilton on Wednesdays.  Twelve years down the road, however, some team members are needing to retire or just move on, so we now have a SERIOUS and URGENT need for more help, especially in Chilton, but also Ramsbury.  If the teams are big enough, there’s slack in the system for groups to be flexible.

It would be really, really sad if we have to cut back on what we offer because a lack of helpers is taking the enjoyment out of it for everyone.  It’s a hugely important project, but it’s got to be fun too.

Sparklers – No Sparklers until further notice.

Flying Fishes – No Flying Fishes until further notice.

Midweek Communion Every Thursday at 10am at Holy Cross, Ramsbury.

Reflective Spaces Join us on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 7pm (except for December), for an opportunity to take a step back from the busyness of life, to listen to words which may comfort or which may challenge. It is a chance to inhabit moments of silence and stillness, looking inward to ourselves and to God and outwards to the world around us.
